Evergreen Huckleberry

Vaccinium ovatum

Native Pollinator

This attractive evergreen shrub has glossy leaves that are a striking coppery color when new. Small pink flowers bloom from late spring to mid-summer, and dark purplish-black berries follow in late summer to fall. A very useful landscape plant, it works well as a low natural hedge or in informal groupings. It provides excellent bird and butterfly habitat. Somewhat slow growing, it requires attention to weeding and watering to establish.
